Foundations Wheel Throwing is for students who have completed a beginner wheel course and are ready to strengthen their skills, improve consistency, and become more independent at the wheel. You'll learn to identify problems in your work, understand why they happen, and correct them. This is a wheel-only course; it does not include hand building. ABOUT THE COURSE Six weeks, one three-hour class per week. You'll strengthen wedging, centering, drilling down and opening, establishing a strong base, pulling even walls, controlling form, trimming, and glazing while making cylinders, bowls, and plates. Anna will introduce and reinforce techniques such as the claw pull for more even, well-structured walls. You'll take your work through the complete process, from preparing clay and throwing to trimming, finishing, and glazing. The goal isn't perfection. It's to move beyond following steps and understand how clay behaves on the wheel, giving you the skills and confidence to work more independently. PREREQUISITES You should have completed at least one six-week Beginner Wheel Throwing course and been introduced to the skills above. You don't need to be consistently successful at these yet; that's exactly what Foundations helps you develop. If you took your beginner course at another studio, please contact Anna before registering. CLASS SIZE & MATERIALS Limited to 8 students. Tuition includes studio tools, glazes, and standard bisque and glaze firing fees. Clay must be purchased from Enkindle Fire Studio (from $30 per 25-lb bag). MISSED CLASSES & OPEN STUDIO There are no make-up classes, but each student receives one Open Studio pass to practice, work, or catch up. There is no instruction during Open Studio. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. I understand that participating at a pottery studio includes the use of tools and equipment that could potentially be dangerous. As is the case with any pottery studio you enter, the risk of injury is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated.
